What should I do when I arrive in China?

Normally, international students will come to China by plane; It is also possible to take other modes of transportation such as railways, ships, buses, etc. However, the first task upon arrival is to enter the country through China Immigration Inspection.

1. China Immigration Inspection

China Immigration Inspection is divided into various channels such as the Chinese citizen channel and the foreign citizen channel, and international students should pass through the foreign citizen channel. Before entering the country, it is necessary to fill out the "Foreigner Entry Application Form" and hand it over to the inspectors at the customs. Inspectors may inquire about travel purposes, contacts in China, addresses, and other information. They should prepare responses in advance and carry paper support materials with them.

After entering the country, you are not allowed to stay at the border checkpoint. You should collect your luggage as soon as possible and cooperate with security personnel to carry out security checks on your luggage.

2. How to reach the school

After entering the country, you can usually choose various modes of transportation such as taxi, subway or bus, and may also need to take intercity trains or connecting flights to the destination city. Please consult the school for specific information.

Where can I stay after arriving at school?

International students usually live in on campus student apartments or in off campus rental housing.

What do I need to know about new student registration?

Upon arrival in China, freshmen should in time go to the admitted institution to complete a series of enrollment procedures such as registration. Please refer to the Admission Notice of each school for specific time, location and required materials.

1. Normally, the following materials are required to complete registration:

●Original and photocopy of valid passport and visa (X1 or X2)

●Original and photocopy of Admission Notice

●Original copy of the "Application Form for Visa for Foreign Students Studying in China" (JW201 or 202 Form)

●Photo of passport size

●Registration fees, tuition fees, medical insurance fees, accommodation fees, and other related fees that need to be paid when registration

●Original copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Record and Blood Test Report (required for students studying in China for more than 6 months)

*Please prepare and submit specific materials according to the requirements of the admission school.

2. Usually, school registration process includes the following contents:

1) Accommodation: Handling accommodation procedures and checking into the dormitory;

2) Payment: Pay tuition fees, registration fees and other related fees;

3) Purchasing medical insurance: presenting your valid passport, admission notice and paying medical insurance fees;

4) Student registration: Fill out relevant forms and complete the student registration;

5) Physical examination: The school will arrange a health and physical examination for students;

6) Visa interview: The school arranges a face-to-face interview for students who apply for a study residence permit for the first time;

7) Applying for a residence permit: After obtaining the results of the medical examination and obtaining a face-to-face visa, a residence permit needs to be applied for.

Do I have to undergo a physical health check?

According to relevant regulations of the Chinese government, students who enter with an X1 visa must undergo a health check. Students can undergo a physical examination in their home country before coming to China, and submit the original "Foreigner Physical Examination Record" in Chinese or English when registration, and then go to the local Health Care Center of the Entry Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau for re-examination. If the health certificate submitted does not meet the standards and requirements, or if a physical examination is not conducted before coming to China, a new health examination must be conducted at the local inspection and quarantine bureau's health care center. The health center will provide you with a "Foreigner Physical Examination Record Verification Certificate", which is a necessary document for applying for a residence permit in China. When applying for a medical examination, you may need to bring the following materials:

· Passport

· Medical examination materials in home country before coming to China

· 2 inch passport free ID photo (can also be reapplied at the medical examination site)

· Copy of admission notice or proof document issued by the school.

Normally, schools will arrange medical examinations uniformly. If you miss the group medical examination time, you need to go to the local entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau to complete this procedure on your own. For X1 visa, a residence permit must be issued within 30 days from the date of entry, so a medical examination must be completed as soon as possible after entry. International students who enter with an X2 visa do not require a medical examination.

Do I have to purchase medical insurance?

According to relevant national regulations, international students study in China for more than six months are required to purchase medical insurance in China, and the school will provide students with relevant consultation and services on insurance purchase. What is a foreigner's residence permit? What should I pay attention to?

The residence permit for foreigners in the People's Republic of China is a residence permit issued to foreigners who have resided in the People's Republic of China for more than one year. International students who enter the country with an X1 visa must obtain a residence permit within 30 days from the date of entry. This certificate should be applied for and processed from the entry and exit management agency of the public security organ in the intended place of residence. For details, please refer to the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of Entry and Exit of Foreigners and relevant regulations of the local entry and exit management bureau.

You may need to pay attention to:

When applying for a residence permit, a qualified "Foreigner Physical Examination Record Verification Certificate" issued by the local health and quarantine department must be submitted. Therefore, please complete the health examination as soon as possible after entering the country and bring the proof materials to the local entry and exit management bureau.

Due to the requirement of submitting the original passport when applying for a residence permit at the police station, some services that require a passport such as bank card issuance, mobile phone/network activation may be affected. Please arrange relevant matters in advance.

What if I am unable to arrive at the school within the specified time to complete the registration process?

If students are unable to arrive at the school within the registration time specified by the school, they should contact the relevant management teachers of the school in advance to inquire about the method of self-registration.
